Can some of you guys with a 29' twin small block comment on how much slack is in your steering. I've got ~2 inches of play before the drives engage in turning it seems like. I have replaced the cable and helm because it was 6+ inches of play with the old one. Was hoping to pretty much eliminate the slack with a new set up, are these that bad from the factory?
I have also already changed the steering actuator, and swivel pin on one outdrive because it had a lot of play in it.

Boat just seems squirrelly at speed with this slack in the cable. Like the drives want to sort or just flop to one side or the other in between the slack if that makes sense.

They did have play in the top swivel pin where it goes through the gimble ring. I used the JRmarine fix on the port side which was the worst side. Star side is a little loose but not enough to cause what I'm feeling IMO. Was waiting until winter to do that side since its isn't near as bad.
