I know Dan we spoke of this at great length... I have no choice as I have the 5's and can't afford the switch... however as I stated in prior conversations I have the 1" spacer/cav plate to run on the #5...
what my question is now, what prop would I run with 1.68:1 ratio and 1" above bottom with 10" standoff box??? 4 blade, 5 blade?? 6000 rpm is max I want to spin

On the 38 Staggered with 1,000 HP Natural with 1.62 wet #VIs We run Mercs 17.5d x 37p 5b to 6000 RPMs . Top speed that we have seen is 114 MPH The bullet is 1.5 inches above bottom and its on a rail you can let go of the wheel at 100 an it go's straight ahead !

With your weight and full cabin you will start at about a 17.5 d x 32 p 5 blade that's a nice starting point

I'm running a 16.5 x 32 4 blade on 3As side by side @ 2" below and 35" apart now... stagger will be @ 21" apart and 1.5" above (no spacer) as suggested by you in earlier conversations...

Sounds like a really cool project. If you are looking for a place for those VI's the back of my boat would love it. Good luck with the project, keep us updated

my buddy went from 5's to wet sump 6's on his 38 flat deck and it ran 100.9 mph in the ocean with the 5's on it. same year different blower set up and inner cooler setup everything else was the same other than i believe there was much more weight added because of the psi blowers from 14:71's and the huge innercooler that was used. instead of a super chiller after that we could not get it to run over 96mph. i feel the fives are much faster but very difficult to get on plane with 5's because they have no negative trim and the high x dimension.

yes... 38 flat deck is not a Scarab thunder with a modified bottom and not staggered and so on and so on... Dan at Team Archer (Scarab Guru and creator of same) says I should expect 110++ with the configuration discussed in this thread... the boat runs in the 90's now with side by side 3As @ 2" down and a dead gear ratio... (1.33:1) .

one would think that staggering with #5s @ 21" spacing, 1.68:1 gear and 1.5" up on a 10" box should drastically change that number!!! lets hope so at least, so I can go into this project with some hope!! lol
