I hate to hijack a thread but I'm using my phone and can't quite get through the forum that easy. I just joined so please excuse my lack of formal I just needed to talk to people of knowledge soon before I make possible mistakes. I recently picked up a miami vice edition 38 to rebuild. I did know from the start what it is but didn't realize it was that much of a limited edition, figured they made thousands of them. My plans were to customize it changing everything to make it fit in with my ford mustang collection. I had to make an instant stop because if this thing is worth restoring I need to know. Thank you and I am sorry for intruding

Talk to JetJock (Randy). Him and Wayne are probably the most knowledgeable about the MV boats. There is also a MV Facebook page too. From what I understand, Wellcraft only made about 35 MV edition KV Scarabs. Yes they are rare. Even rarer than some muscle cars. Where did you buy the boat? Any pics of it yet?

Had to pull over so I could reply.
What year is your Vice and where are you located?
Randy and I co manage a fb page dedicated strictly for Vice KVs.
We have a registry of the boats by HID numbers to track them..
Send me some pics, info and the HID and I'll get it on the site.
My email is [email protected]

I have the boat you see in the youtube video's that was at mecum auction a couple years ago. Just a FYI for you guys that run the facebook page that are trying to track everything. I bought it 2 years ago from the owner in Ohio who bought it from the person in NY who did the full restoration a couple years prior to that. It sits in our race shop (heated/cooled) at all times. Probably gonna get it wet this summer soon. I have replaced the carpet with custom scarab carpet, had a new cover made for it, other than that the boat was in exceptional condition when I got it. Good luck to you guys looking for the MV editions. They don't build boats like that anymore. About like everything else
