Default Scarab 22 Carb

I have a 96 Scarab 22 Bravo One, 454, Carb. It is all stock except for stainless exhaust with baffles. The carb is tired and I am looking to replace with an Edelbrok Marine carb. I see they are available in a 600 cfm or 750. I would like a bit more performance but have no plans on any significant engine upgrades (cam, heads, etc). As it is a 454 I assumed that I would go with the 750 but am concerned this may be a bit much. I have a long "minimum wake" zone between my marina and the harbor inlet and am concerned the carb will "load up" do to the extended low rpm.
That said, I certainly want enough carb when I open up
I am not sure what the stock carb size is.
Any advice here is appreciated.

It really is about the jetting of the carb that your putting on, I think the 750 would be fine just maybe go with smaller jets .
I think holley that comes on hp 500 are 780

Your original carb is probably a Weber, which is basically a more modern version of the original Carter AFB. Edlebrock now markets the exact same carb. So, when purchasing an Edlebrock 750, you are getting the same as the orignal Weber. KP, is correct in the jetting thing. It makes all the difference. I had a 22 Scarab with roughly the same setup. I'll try and find the paperwork in which I wrote all my jetting experiamts on.
A couple of questions....
Stock 1996 454?
Cam changes?
Just exhasut changes?

Thanks for the feedback.
Yes, the engine is stock, aside from the exhaust, which is stainless. There are some baffles in the through transom exhaust tips to keep it quiet, which I may remove.
No plans for a cam or any head work. Even using the stock intake manifold.
It sounds as if I am ok with the 750 (considering it sounds like this is the stock replacement).
Any reccomendation on the jetting is appreciated.
Thanks again.
