I'm thinking about a couple of 31 excels for sale out there (91-94) and wondered how people felt about them. Good, bad or other?
Engines 454's or 502's on ones I saw.

All the excel models where heavy boats......if not abused and left in water for length of time i believe they were some of the most solid hull ever produced by wellcraft. I love all the 89'-90' and 91 excels great hulls! Also made a 28 excel in 1988

I bought a 1991 31 Excel with 502's over the winter and although I wasnt realy looking for a scarab I found the 31 to more modern looking than other boats of the early 90's. The cocpit feels bigger than other boats of its size and my buddys 357 sr1. Mine measures about 32' 10" long with the swim deck and 8'6" wide. Acording to Wellcraft the 92 and earlier are a bit lighter than the later ones. They are pretty fast with moderate power and overall I think they are a great buy when compared to other boats in the price range.

Run em hard ... has a real nice one for sale (I think?) with HP500's but it was too far away for me. Said to run low 80's. There is another on C list in baltimore with 540's for a good deal but I didn't much care for the paint job
