KV 38 - ex vice

Does anyone remem..silly me the old miami vice scarab now paintetd gray and on the infernal lake minentonka site that comes whenever I am searching for KV stuff to really sh!t me off!! renamed and although I dont condone robbing us of a MV classic is a really nice boat. I had a go at buying it in late 11'' when john still had it I think but was wondering if shes still around with someone on here or what?

87 from memory., XS impulse

I know Randy and Wayne wont tlike this but why isnt there a register for all the non MV KV's there still KVs and they still rule!!

MonkeySea2 06-14-2013 10:07 AM

There is a Facebook page devoted to the 38 KV Scarab MV Edition. They know where every one of them is and its history. Lots of good photos.

way2fast 06-15-2013 01:24 AM

I know I visit it daily...... and they havent tracked them all down yet but they are getting close. Good on them. Has made many peoples lives easier nt to mention more fun.... considering know one really knows an exact figure of how many were built.
This boat IS NOT now a MV edition boat and it is probably the nicest one Ive seen used to belong to xsscarab on here lovely boat wondering if its still around/info/knowledge of who bought it now

way2fast 06-15-2013 01:47 AM

43 scarab 06-15-2013 08:24 PM

john sold the boat a year or two ago to somebody in texas I believe

way2fast 06-15-2013 08:46 PM

thats right wonder If he's on the boards?

MrSneakAttack 06-15-2013 09:03 PM

yo way2fast! i can't agree with you more about the fb page for the MV KV's. if its not in terrible shape, been sitting in a field for 20years, the bottom of the boat covered with barnacles, tired trs drives that are so old you cant tell what they are, a fire salvage and half the $hit missing it will not make the site. a KV is a KV. i understand they are only trying to keep the value up on (their) KV but all the MV boats they find and post isn't worth 5k.

way2fast 06-16-2013 11:30 PM

Yo sneak! haha you are funny guy
and I agree a KV is KV end of story although. Keepying it original has meaning on a MV as they are unique but its its true you cant have enough power!

way2fast 06-16-2013 11:35 PM

BTW Mr S A to my eyes you have one of the nicest non MV boats I ever seen I love it... love the clean red look keep it that way!!!

MrSneakAttack 06-16-2013 11:43 PM

yeah i figured i would have gotten more $hit but a KV is a KV. bottom line is their aren't many MV KV's that are in good shape and the ones that have been found are really bad and if you cant do alot of the work yourself it will cost tons of money to get them even tolerable at a dock with boats around ha. i love mine and redid it last off season. it grows on me everytime i take it out! i will post pics of the project this week

way2fast 06-16-2013 11:48 PM

MrSneakAttack 06-16-2013 11:58 PM

ah ok! cool! do you have they grey kv or had it at one time? thanks

way2fast 06-17-2013 12:03 AM

No I tried to buy it back in 11' and another guy came in last minute offered a premium...(probably good as i couldnt really afford it back then !) I really want it though hence my thread and I thought one of these guys eg randy etc would know right away at least its wherabouts... I love the paint scheme aswell I think it looks cool.

Now wait a minute pal.....(Lisa...aka Sack Deep, MrSneakAttack.....etc)

Not true! We and I mean both Wayne and myself (Randy) welcome all 38KV's to our Facebook page. We have several albums of non-Vice 38KV's. Our intention was and is to locate all the Miami Vice Editions, no matter what paint they are in or what the condition they are currently in. Some are rough but some are still running strong (like mine :} )

I know about the Minnetonka Scarab XS Impulse I think the name is XS Impulse....we have many pics on the site of that boat and keep track of it. Not sure where your comments are coming from as we have posted you friends non-Vice 38KV for sale and put up several pictures of your current 38KV????? Confused at your comments?

We setup the site to keep track of each boat and locate them. It will be useful information to future owners and for potential buyers. We welcome all Scarab owners but try to keep the boats focused on 38KV's..... I guess if you feel so strongly about being slighted not having a Vice KV you could start a "38KV Scarab page" ?

We have some pretty exciting news coming up. Stay tuned.

I didn't realize the concept of the fb page was that complicated. Randy and I created it as a project to track and register as many of the 35 Vice editions and show boats as possible and provide a little history for fans of the boat no matter what the condition of the boat, hence the title "Miami Vice Editions" Keep in mind we are talking about 27-30 year old boats and we have found just as many nice boats as rough boats. Rough boats don't become nice boats until they get into the right hands, which is one of the goals of the site. There's a lot of behind the scenes projects that fans of the page don't see. If it weren't for two trips to Miami last year , the season 5 boat would still be baking away in a rack in North Beach. I for one don't believe I need the site to ramp up the value of my boat. Randy's and mine both are extremely clean, restored and turn key boats. If a clean MV edition is as rare as mentioned earlier, then supply and demand will dictate the price. The last time I checked neither of our boats were for sale, which makes it a mute issue.

Randy thanks for your input but I cannot seem to find any folders or files with info on that boat just a few pics strewn about the place.. I think it just has "scarab racing" down the side and I know John sold the boat to a guy in Arizona who doesnt go on these boards or the web in relation to his boat...
just out of interest have you got any blower hatches for your boat yet>?:party-smiley-004:

scarab kv 07-12-2013 07:49 PM

I didn't do an album on it yet because I didn't have any info on it

well.....been using my boat this summer hanging out near red fish island and Galveston out on the hook.....girlfriend likes the sunpad as well as my dog so the boat will not be getting any KV hatches anytime soon. (I do have a set that will be built for me when I am ready)

way2fast 07-15-2013 06:21 PM

I will be in that area soon, I think I will be coming for a perv.

beefmalone 07-21-2013 03:57 PM

And while starting that up all crybabies that has 377 flatdecks aka Kaama Editions start crying as their boats are the same hull as a 38KV and have been calling them such...

you call identical 30+ built serial production boats rare, in the boating world...

Wakey wakey...one off boats are built on regular basis and those are rare and still not wanted when they get old or get collector value.
Fact is it's only a side by side slow resin bucket compared to current boats and new retro styles can be built anyday..look into the 42 Chief Warpath...a winner in it's own right already. Or the Pantera 41...

Boats aren't collectors items especially not Wellcrafts and seems Wellcrafts even put plaques on every production boat sold/given to a celeb...
DJ ( (38KV and 43 DJ edition which he personally preferred more and might still own it) and Cyndi Lauper (Scarab 400) being prime examples.. expressly (strange grammar bytheway) built by Wellcraft for XXX

Sorry pal but MV Scarab KVs are prolly the most collectible boats out there. Notice I didn't say most valuable. I said most collectible. By that I mean there is a premium placed on them versus other simliarly-spec'd boats of the same vintage. Park one next to damn near anything and I guarantee the KV will be getting the crowd's attention.

way2fast 09-19-2013 11:33 PM

well said beef.
anyway without letting mere obstacles get in our way lets not digress.

http://i1219.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6499dea4.jpg

dammnn this boat looks so good. I also like it how it isnt an MV scheme boat somehow more classic and not quite as cheesey?

way2fast 05-26-2014 08:55 PM

never turned up?
wonder what happened to it

JetJock 05-04-2015 04:56 PM

Hey---again our Facebook site is open to all 38KV's.....we have a photo album for non Vice boats--I have never turned anyone away....matter of fact we just found a "non-Vice KV" that was in fact a Miami Vice Edition!
