Well had an engine builder come pick up the engine. He's gonna set it up on a stand in his garage and run it with a new cam and lifters and pushrods. That's after taking it apart and cleaning it like crazy and checking the bearings, etc. We're hoping Lunati will be warrantying the cam/lifters. I have no luck with flat tappet cams break ins. Maybe over the winter I'll have rollers installed, but right now I just want to get her going.
Thanks for the compliments on the boat. Getting the wellcraft decal on the side of the hull was like finally scratching an itch...

Glad to hear the engine is in good hands. So what do you have left to do? and do you have a goal in mind for a splash date?

We're having a family campout at lake Guntersville that was originally planned to be this past (memorial day) weekend. It got bumped to the weekend of June 21-22. Our major hurdles are painting the starboard side, painting the engine hatches, sandblasting and painting the trailer, installing the engines/transmissions. Of course there's all kinds of little things here and there to be done. I feel a lot better with the engines in the hands they are in now. The goal looks doable. Keep in mind we're doing almost all of this after hours and on Saturdays.

Thanks Mike.
I messed around in the engine compartment tonight. Got some of the steering sorted out. This boat has nose cones on the drives which from what I understand puts additional stress on the steering linkage. I'd like to see about hydraulic steering this winter. We've been having to tighten play out of just about every joint in the linkage.

Got the hatches painted and installed today. The underside got painted with the two part water based epoxy we painted the engine compartment with. Painted the top with single stage urethane. We also got the wiring in the console finished up.

Put some more clear on some of the teak...

My brother Brian helped out on the boat today. We got a lot done today for the amount of hours we worked...
