Default 81 Scarab Nova II HID number.

Hey gang! Does anybody know where the 'Alternate' HID number might be stamped on this boat? It's a 1981 Welcraft Scarab Nova II, and the starboard upper transom number comes back 'non-conforming' so I don't know if its altered, not clear enough or just an anomaly. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

For whatever it's worth, the reason it was coming back as non-conforming is because the last character was the letter I, not the numeral 1. It's all good, matches the title, and belongs to me now. I'll probably start a thread on it when I start working early in the spring.

Cool. Looks like someone upgraded the shifters/ throttles already for you.

They have indeed... They're in great shape physically- though a bit worn looking. The cables are perfect, motion is smooth, I really like them- wish the formula had em. I'll start up a rebuild thread on this thing if it's worth restoring, or a parting out thread if it's not. Should be getting somewhere with it fairly soon.

Thanks hblair- I'm still trying to decide if I like this one better than the Formula- gotta pick one to restore and sell the other. Three boat projects just isn't an option right now lol.

Sweet nova! I love mine! I like how your engine hatches open. Mine is just a big single one that double hatch looks tough in my opinion good luck with restore if you decide to do the nova!

Thanks! I have a little work to do to those hatches, but I like the setup- can open one side and lay on the other to tinker with one engine at a time. Not a bad setup- just need to repair a little de-lamination, and brace it a little bit. May even go electric lifts! Lol. Gotta sell the Formula before I dump too much into the old Nova- it's a cool boat tho, pretty sure it's the one that'll be getting my attention this year.
