38 Scarab vs. 38 Fountain

$105k is high. There's a beauty here in Maryland, but same situation, owner thinks a whole lot of his boat, and asking $140k. NADA high retail is $90k or thereabouts, low retail I think was about $75k. So you can imagine the trade in value. :WOW:
This is so typical of many boats out there. Next spring, it will be less, but the market will fall with it and the owner will be stuck with it for yet another winter. Some don't know when to fold 'em and cut the loss. $75k-80k today will be 65-70k next boating season. just my 2 cents.

Kelley... I know that boat you speak of . I almost Crapped my drawers when I found out what he wanted. Its a salty Dog besides!!!!
Too bad I would give it a good home for 75k!
Clean it up, wax her, and make her feel right with FRESH water!!!
I always buy low to mid...so I can sell low to mid.

HAHA!! I'm with you jb!! With that strategy, it just takes time and patience.
It's a nice boat but they'll keep snowing the owner. One day the owner wakes up and realizes he lost a bloody fortune and could have unloaded it a year earlier for a lot more money than he finally got. Gotta know when to hold 'em and know when to fold 'em. Not many people looking to plunk down that amount of money on a used boat in the first place, especially now, in a down economic market, rising unemployment, overall consumer spending down and still a hairy ride on Wall Street, etc., etc., etc.
I decided to keep and upgrade my 34' instead after throwing a few lines in the water for that one and a couple others. Good luck in your quest. Perhaps next year you'll be able to buy it for $60k!!

I love my 38' KV Scarab this is a true rough water boat! 7' waves and nice ride! I felt safe.I feel the Scarab is a true offshore boat. The fountains are nice boats but would not take one out in 7' waves? what ever your choice (go with the Scarab) Good Luck!

Nothing rides like a 38' Scarab. Its rare to find a hull design that gets decent lift yet rides extremely smooth. Hopefully somebody will buy molds and continue the tradition...
