Default split engine hatch on 33 or 38 AVS

Thinking of having interior redone/engine hatch modified on my 33 avs, has anyone converted their hatch to open in middle like a 38 fountain? Its a ***** to work on my engines and was thinking of some mods, if someones done it I would like to see where they mounted the rams, hinges, etc, thanks, Smitty

If I remember correct Scarab KV's back in the day had the option of a split rear "race hatch". Perhaps contacting one of those guys may help. I have the same boat, 33 AVS and mine is the single lift point lift like yours.

This 38 Scarab has had its engine hatch converted to open in the middle. I think Archer Marine in Costa Mesa did some work on this boat, they might have done that hatch conversion too. Not sure how similar the 33 and 38 hatches are, but I'm sure it can be done. I've always preferred that style too.

Will you have power rams operated from the helm? I would be interested in something similar.
