Did your deck crack where the crown meets the fairing rise?

I think mine's cracked right there. I'll check it out tomorrow or Monday. Pretty sure it's cracked. I think thats a standard feature on these boats.

Dave said it was a common problem that most of them had. Sometimes wonder if that's why they went to the euro style curve to strengthen it.

We got some more done tonight. We got the transom pretty much cleaned out. Just lack a little bit now. This transom was in a lot better shape than the 30 footer. It's funny how that works out. Who would have thought that? We also got the rest of the thru hull hardware off. The engine water intakes on the bottom of the hull will have to be replaced. They're pretty beat up and seized.
Materials oughta be here in a week or two...

WOW

Lots of work. Thanks for posting this project

Heath I would not recommend putting the pickups back thru the bottom I would put transom mounted pickups instead the work a lot better. as far as the cracks in the deck the Excel deck cracks in the same place as the KV deck its a construction problem there needs to be a bulkhead at the point in the boat just like all the Larry Smith models have.

Just to give you an option...consider a crank mounted pump and pull suction thru the transom. They flow a bunch of water, easy to service and get you out of depending on a belt to drive your water pump.

Sort of adds to your "Outside the Box" thinking.
