1989 31 Excel.. Kevlar??

Looking over my 89 excel I started to notice things that are different than my 91 I use to own. More obvious things like the lack of side louvers in the engine compartment which I was wondering if that was factory so I was looking from inside the engine compartment for signs of glass work when I started feeling around the parting line where the top and bottom halves met and I noticed where the bottom half would have been trimmed from the factory you can feel all the layers of lamination and the trimmed edge feels like a much finer fabric type material not sharp coarse fiberglass strands. Then I started looking at other places on the hull and one spot on the keel in particular that had scraped the trailer at some point I could see these same fine fabric like strands protruding from the scrape that are soft and fuzzy almost like frayed denim to the touch. So now I'm thinking I have a kevlar hull 31 excel. I've read that some of the kevlar boats have kv or kevlar stamped by the HIN which this boat does not but I've also read that this is 50/50 at best weather it would have been stamped from the factory or not. Is there a way to tell for sure? and if it is kevlar how many kevlar 31's where made?

Fuzzy Wuzzy Warrior?

Glass Dave might chime in. He's even done a Scarab 31 Kevlar.

KV actually stands for Kaama Version. Definitely possible not stamped. I have seen stamped ones like my friends 1998 28’ Scarab. These laminated cost upward of $5000 so I would have wanted to see it stamped. CAL (composite alloy laminate)like my Viper or Kevlar.

That's Kevlar! Glass doesn't look like that when you grind it, definitely Kevlar.
