Default Scarab panther questions

I’m a recent owner of a 1988 Panther , I am replacing the power this winter. Would tall deck motors fit without moving the motor mounts wider , and of course the problems down stream that that would create?
I am pulling the factory 330 hp 454 motors that have 1430 hrs on them. I need to work on the stringers where the motor mounts are I have found the traditional cracks. I have drilled the transom, and I get fresh pine shavings. Lucky as hell I bought the boat at a deal and took the chance!

Any other suggestions to do while I have the motors out.

I wouldn't do tall decks. Barely any room if you went to aftermarket exhaust. Here is a link to my Panther project over the years. Maybe it might give you a few ideas while the engines are out.
