Default Looking for SSM4 knowledge on straight hull 38

Hello all,
motor guy here that has built cars for years, but pretty new to the rigging a boat. I just purchased a really clean 96 Scarab 38', straight hull, that I am installing blower motors and SSM4 drives. My question is about prop shaft height...

how far below the surface of the hull should the prop driveshaft be set for this setup? I'm assuming others have done this similar setup and I'm always about learning from others wisdom and experience.

totally seperate topics and question....should I pick up extension boxes this setup? I read and hear so many varying opinions on boxes. Mybstraight hull fountain had them, but if they arent worth enough mph...i wont mess with them.

thanks for any help, I'll be posting this in the drives and lowers forum as well.

Is your hull a wellcraft ? and are you running the full cabin uph. ?As far as boxes are concerned they will help with carrying the bow it gets your leverage point farther back and it also allows your to mount the motors a little farther back. Drive height depends on if your running boxes or not. and if you are after top speed or all around boating. Regards Dan

thanks for the reply dan,
Heard you were the man with knowledge on this.
-38 well craft thunder. With full upholstery in cabin including small ac
-i am open to buying any prop to make setup work well.
-we all want top speed lol. But realistically the boat will take my family and I from cove to cove until we tie up and hang out all day. Will make LOTO 3 to 4 times during boating season and probably a few poker runs.
-ssm 4 drives do have a 2 inch spacer currently installed.
-open to boxes if I can find them and if it is definitely a faster setup.
-boat is getting 588ci bbc with brodix heads and 1071 blowers, so let's conservatively say it will be an 1800 to 1900 horse boat, so it should have the grunt to spin the drives well.

any of this help make some suggestions?

thanks
