Production Numbers

Are their any production numbers available by hull size and/or year of Scarab's?

Production Numbers

d,

I seriously doubt that there are many numbers, especially prior to 1997... In my dealings with Wellcraft I was told that they did not even have any records prior to 1997 and I doubt that access and accuracy are an issue at this point in time...

Thanks, Karl

There are records of all scarabs built
since Wellcraft and Larry Smith made
their deal.
Larry Smith was paid a royalty on every Scarab Wellcraft made under the
License agreement, But getting that info may not be easy.
Every boat Built by Team Scarab in
Calif. is recorded.

Good luck getting anything from Wellcraft in Sarasota. All the Scarab people are gone. When I got my '85 in '95 I got some info(sketchy at best from the memory of the Scarab team). Nothing was on paper. My guess is that there is nothing left.

I asked mike in parts in 1991 how many 1989 28 Scarabs were made. he said about 75. Don't know for sure though

Was told by Wellcraft that approximately 25 to 30 special edition Miami Vice Scarabs were built.

Only a few are still intact today.

Every now and then one of the Miami Vice Scarabs surfaces somewhere on the world. This one is for sale in Germany and as usual is "one of the two used in the actual tv series".

i went to helsinki a long time ago, its a very cool city. I had a good time when i was there.

I would have to echo most of the negative comments already posted here Mike. I'm not taking a shot at you, Larry, Team Scarab or Wellcraft for that matter. I'm a huge Scarab fan. :)

But in my experience, I found Wellcraft customer support had very few answers to any questions I posed in the last 10 years. By questions I mean information requests for details a manufacturer should have on file for my boats, even general questions about the model line, including parts suppliers. Trying to get information now is nearly impossible, so I don't even bother calling anymore. If they DO have info, they're not aware of it and consequently alienating brand loyalists. Shame really.

Have you heard what's going on with Larry Smith now? Is he building Scarabs? Production or boutique? What are his plans? Would be an honor to hear from him and listen to what he's going to do next.
