Default Prop issues

anyone got any ideas on a good prop setup for a 22' Pachanga with the SBC? I got the boat with a 5 blade 23p and was running about 4900 rpm and speedo was reading 55mph trimmed all the way in or it'd ventilate.
tried switching to a 21p mirage 3 blade and now I'm spinning 4000 rpm and a whopping 48 mph I can't believe I can't spin a 21p on this boat, other stuff to look at? right now I think I have the slowest pachanga in existance

How much HP is this small block? What is the CID?

Remeber the big block 330hp came with at 23 stock.

I don't think that boat with any power needs 5 blades. It's a light boat to start with.

Call Brett at BBLADES he knows the Pachanga's well. He labbed a Mirage Plus 25 for me and it worked great.

I probably have a little more power with my 496 than your small block

Default Pachanga 22 prop

I owned a 1987 with 330 HP big block and it had a 1.32 /1 gear ratio which turned a 21 stock 3 blade merc cleaver for top speed up in mid 60s. Then with the 365 HP the same prop or cupped to 22 pitch worked well. With the small block you probably need less pitch and should get to 60 MPH near the top of the rpm band. If you have the 1.5/1 gear ratio then add 2" pitch to this. Go with a 3 blade and Mirage props generally worked ok as well.Good luck

well I went back to the 5 blade, ran with half a tank and was able to get 59 mph (gps) running with about half out on the drive. I think my motor is rated at 270-290? running some mystery cam in it (owner didn't know specs). I may try the 21p again I think I didn't trim out enough. and I might have had some tabs in there as well..... the speedo read 64 does that count?
