Yeah, I surely wouldn't cut anything if you didn't have to. My door was out of the frame on the side that you can't get to. I really didn't have much choice - it was either leave it screwed up and half in the frame or cut the frame and fix it. The door wouldn't close right and I was afraid that sooner or later the whole thing would break.

Do you have a pics of the work?

I will get pics today - didn't have a chance yesterday. It doesn't look as bad as it sounds. I wasn't thriled about having to do it.

Here are the pics -

The first pic is of the top piece that was cut as close as possible to the interior on the starboard side.
The one underneath is of the bottom left frame that was cut.
The other two are of the "minor" damage done to the interior.
The top piece was cut and removed to get the door out. The door is surprisingly flexible when out of one side of the framing. This helped when taking it out, making it easier than putting the fixed door back in. The bottom frame was cut in order to get the door back in. This whole side of the outside frame was removed to put the door back in. The interior was clipped putting the door back in. After the door was finally placed in, we resealed the frame and screwed it back in.

I hope this helps. All of the framing needs painted - this was not done while trying to get the door fixed.

Flamingo - That looks like tons of work! And I thought my hack job of not taking my interior out was tough.

The project boat is identical to my boat so I thought it would be better to figure this stuff out on a boat I'm going to sell. I have the motors out and the interior at the upholsterer. I wanted to do the cabin upholstery myself and this is helping me figure out how it comes appart.
