I bought rubber tile(24"X24" I think) and cut it to match the bottom of the seat and then covered it with the same carpet I have on the floor. Stacked it between the floor and the seat to raise it up...

That is not good. They built an axle for me a few years back and it has been maintenance free. It only see's salt water and have been very happy using them on misc projects over the years.

I run a tunnel tab on my Spectre. It works great to keep the boat from hopping while cruising 60ish and don't need/use it at all when running wide open.

X2 what Andy said on speed. Most 3.0 or 3.2 liter sportmasters will be running 1.62 gears and a 15 mid is not going to be the best choice since there is no splash well.
