I had the same type of set up as t500hps. 30p prop.

I think the rev limiter was set at 5200. With the 30 pitch prop I would hit the rev limiter once in awhile in the spring and fall.

I had a 96 252LS. Sold it and bought an 01 312 with 502s, K planes and hydraulic steering. The difference was night and day between the two.
It would run 74 GPS. We ran Merc 4 blade props...

Check your Vapor Separator tank, there is a fine micron screen in it that gets clogged the more you apply throttle. Clean the screen and tank. Had this happen on my boat.
