I would use exterior and resin coat them or give them a fiberglass wrap. Or you could epoxy coat them whichever you like and they will last a loong time.

One thing to keep in mind is how many times has the boat been painted. Even if all the old paint jobs were well preped and the foundation is good the thickness of the paint can cause problems.

If you have the pull up cleats they DEFINITELY leak. They leak through the detent holes in the body of the cleats that are usually covered with silver stickers.

I would dewax and prepsand the bottom, then use Interlux Interprotect Barrier Coat, then a good ablative bottom paint. One of the Interlux Micron series.

It's a bit of a job to do it right but...

It usually costs more to fix the home done botch jobs then to fix the origional damage. Either way it's fine by me :D

Some other tank install types but the rubber on the bottom is all the same idea. Even if you foam in the tank you should use the rubber. The foam does not really support the tank's weight.

The tank gets epoxy coated by the tank builder and has bolting tabs welded to the tank to fit to the stringers.

One and the same. They have new owners since the 70's but they are still in the same place and still doing a nice job with fuel tanks. I use them exclusively.

SP Sheetmetal in Toms River. They make great tanks and they are local. Follow thier instructions or take it to one of the shops they recommend. Like mine :evilb:
