Dave, what I have found is using 'spraying bubbles' when the boat is put on the trailer cleans all of the exhause residue and scum from the hull. Cheap and simple.

There are some newer 102" containers out there.

I shipped a boat on a 102" wide trailer in a sea container to Austraila. The port in Jacksonville had the containers on site.
