Re: High Water Temp

Z5atbf has all the right advice for you. It's best to start with the impeller first. As long as you're there, you might as well replace it regardless of the condition. If that's the cause, you...

Re: High Water Temp

Not likely. Are you sure the impeller is new? Is the motor really getting that hot? Can you put your hand on the exhaust manifold? It is either not getting water or the gauge is screwed up.

Re: Best way to transport boat??????

I had my boat towed out from Florida on a trailer. They used a dually truck. I told him to leave the cockpit cover off. I figured it's easier to clean than buff the scuffs. It arrived fine, a little...

Re: 500HP Carb - LOTS Milkshake Oil! Help!!

I had this problem with my 502s in Florida. The intake gasket apparently does not like saltwater. I took the intakes off and had a couple gallons of light brown whipped cream. If its the intake...

Re: 502mpi overheating

The engine does not get its info from the water temp sender (assuming they are separate on your engine). If it runs a little cool, it will just run a little rich. That's not going to hurt. Plus, a...

Re: 454mag efi mp temp sensors

Before checking your engine as in my first post, are you sure you have a good / new impeller? That could be a sign that the impeller is wearing. It is somewhat common for a motor to run a little...

Re: 454mag efi mp temp sensors

I just went through this on my 502s. You can search my thread "502 mpi" The temp sender is on the termostat housing on the left side. It will have a eyelet or a rubber slide on plug, not a clip in...

Re: Boat covered for 30 days has mold

If it's still wet, I have used a space heater to dry it out (if it's not already dry) Again, have used diluted bleach on many boats and it worked great.

Re: Stock 502 thermostat

I was having a problem with my 502s running hot (u can search for my thread). I put in 140s and they now run at 179. I am going to check the actual temp with and infared because I'm not convinced the...

Re: Boat covered for 30 days has mold

A little laundry bleach in a spray bottle, 1 part bleach, 4 parts water and it should dissapear. Try a test spot first on cabin uphostery and headliner, but it should not hurt it.

Re: 502mpi overheating

Thanks for the input, guys. I put a 140 degree thermostat in this am. Now the temp reads and seems to hold at 179 ... much better. I think temp senders may not be the right resistance for the Gaffrig...

502mpi overheating

98 Fountain. Twin 502 mpi. Both temp gauges go up to 210 and the red light comes on. Exhaust manifolds do not feel super hot, I can put my hand on them ... maybe 95 degrees. Impellors are new. New...
