You paint the bottom of the airdock if its in salt water, it prevents growth and barnicles that normally grow on the bottom of your boat. The dock can be set up for the different (tides), in Ocean...

Can you post why you had problems with it, maybe I can help you out. Most of the problems that I face with them is when the lines aren't equally tight, then one of the rope takes all of the force...
