An update, ran the 17P Mirage (Quicksilver) and got 48mph GPS @ 4800RPM.

Best top speed with the prop a little more than a tad out of the water.

Merc 383 MPI won't spin past 4100rpm in gear

I have a 2yr old Merc 383 MPI reman, and ever since day 1 (well, at least day 1 after break-in) the motor will not spin past 4000-4100 RPM in gear. It sounds as if the rev limiter is kicking in.

Too much fuel is way better than burning holes in pistons. Go big and work your way back. If you have 69's:D start with those. 67's will likely be big enough, if it ran decent on 61's I'd guess...
