we are going to investigate the cooler its the standard merc 6" cooler which is on a lot of boats with no ill effects, however maybe it has a restriction or corrosion

yes run isolator ( which is basically a diaphragm , and you fill line to gage with mineral oil ) so whole line is full of fluid however no gasoline to dash for obvious reasons

you have already gotten good responses, under boost the head gasket will fail between at #3,7,2,4 usually allowing water in lifter gallery milking/frothing up oil
this is the weak link on a chevy...

new engines , coolers , etc. one engine has less water flow than other other enigines have 3psi at 1500rpm but one only fluctuates between 0 and 1psi , I took cap off of thermostat housing water flow...
