My XR drive has the nose cone pickup and the normal side pickups. I also am running a 502mag. I have never had any problems. Not sure why you don't have the side pickups.

I have heard from several different people that the 502 mag burns a little oil. I ran mine about 45 hours this season, maybe 5 at wot. That is being generous. I put about a gallon of oil in this...

Are you using Ethanol gas blend. I have heard from others that you can get more power out of straight Gasoline. Just a thought
