Could be the oil adaptor, ie the lines to the cooler and return,
Could be a plug not fitted in the oil gallery and allowing the oil to bypass the filter...

Maybe just a coincidence, look at the part # in the first pic on the propshaft...

The only 'failures' ( not wear) I have seen with my setups is 1 boat ran 75/90 oil xxx brand, changed to 80/140 xyx oil and no more problems.
