I have a perfect GM Gen IV bowtie block currently at 4.250 will easily go to 4.600 No trauma or damage... Still together as a nice 496...
We had it in a low hour 496 stroker and took it in on...

Sounds like a tolerance problem somewhere...

Too tight pinion bearings are one of the things that I see most often and they generate TONS of heat.
Amsoil is good stuff but we have gone back...
