Yes it is running. I have not found the original cause of the ping sound. It has not made the noise again and everything is operating properly. Time will tell.

Update: I got it all done and there was no broken springs but the head gaskets did look like **** between the cylinders. I also had the valves and valve seats reground as they didn't look the best. ...

I know I know. It is getting valve springs...

I know I know. It is getting valve springs tomorrow. The reason I am asking is if I can do it without pulling the motor for no reason hen I will. I will report back on how many if any valve springs...

So I cranked the motor over without firing and didn't hear a thing. I tried turning it over by hand and still didn't hear anything rattling. How would the flywheel bolts come out with the coupler...

Wouldnt there atleast be a ruff idle if it was a valve spring? And how could I go back and run it for 20 minutes and it was running completely normal?

I have a 01 NOrdic 28 heat with a 500 efi and xz drive. The motor and drive have just under 400hrs on them and have never been opened up.
