13 base/35* total is what Merc specs ares. Mine has 450hrs on the bottom and I redid the top half at 350hrs. It has plenty of power down low and does not need more timing. The full advance does not...

I'm also running a smaller pulley with 7# boost with no cooler. Always 92 or 93 octane. Its jetted rich to be on the safe side. Timing is set at 34* at full advance.

I'm not sure what cams the hawk 525's use, but I put a Crane 731 roller cam in my Merc 525sc. Picked up about 150rpms and midrange is much stronger.
