Re: Procharged small block, boom.

I think this is the right answer. Sell your supercharger to help fund the rebuild then pick the right heads (AFR's are great), build up a solid bottom end, cam and intake to match the heads and you...

Re: porpusing problem

When you lost your 8mph, did you lose rpm also? If your rpms were up near max, then you could try a 24p b1 to pick the speed back up.

Re: Compression on a 350 Magnum??? Anyone know?

with 2 cylinders side by side reading low the gasket between them is likely gone.

My 454 read ~80 on 1 cylinder this fall. A teardown revealed a cracked head.

So, either pass on the boat or...

Re: Dart vs AFR heads on HP 500

My BBC guru tells me its a toss up between AFR's and Canfields for 502's and up. His opinion is all the others are a cut below those two.

If looking for a simple 500hp 454, then the Edelbrocks...

Re: what should i buy 1st

Rod length has little to nothing to do with power production.

If I had a 502mag with a solid bottom end, I'd put either a set of AFR 305's (http://www.airflowresearch.com/) or Canfield 310's...

Re: what should i buy 1st

Just my $0.02, but your Mag already has a solid bottom end - forged crank, 7/16 rods, forged pistons - so your $$$ will make you more HP by working on your top end. Get a great set of heads, a...

Re: what should i buy 1st

Upgrade the cam to make peak power in the 5,500-5,800rpm range, put on an Edelbrock Performer RPM AirGap intake and get a set of stock 496HO exhausts (restrictor removed) to improve of your 454's log...

Re: Right Prop for 7.4L?

My 24' Chaparral Villain III ran 58mph on GPS at ~4,800rpm turning a 21p Mirage. Same boat ran 61mph on GPS with a 23p Ballistic turing ~4,500rpm.

Either your prop is not really a 23p or your...
