I just had the same problem in my 26 cat with a 502 the the cam timing was off 3 teeth I dont know if the chain jumped or what it was weird it cost me 4k to figure it out.

i have a 2000 26 foot awesome cat with a 502, Msd ignition and the boat with no load on the prop revs up fine, when I get it on the lake I gas it out of the hole and the rpm's stay in between...
