This is true. I have been through and traveled to a lot of storm areas, you need a lot of cash. You will be buying fuel and everything from convenience stores for cash.

Default Update:

Update for Brick, NJ

Hurricane Irene is currently located about 440 miles south of New Jersey.

The hurricane has weakened. The highest sustained winds are 90 mph.

Rain begins this afternoon and ends by noon on Sunday with 5 to 10 inches of rain expected and localized amounts approaching 15 inches.

Winds will increase tonight out of the east, the worst of the winds will be between midnight and noon. These winds will shift to the west after the center passes around 8:00 am.

Expect a calm period as the center of the storm moves over. Then gusty west winds will move in for a period of several hours.

The Sunday morning 7:30 am high tide is of concern. East winds and an already astronomically high tide will likely result in a tide that is 4 or 5 feet above normal.

The Office of Emergency Management will continue updating residents throughout the weekend. Residents should also monitor local media outlets, here on the
Township's Website, on BTV comcast channel 20, and the Township's Facebook page for continuing updates on the storm.

For police, EMS and fire emergencies, please call 9-1-1. For non-emergency police response please call 732-262-1100. For evacuation and bus information please call 732-262-1234.

For calls in reference to evacuations, shelters or other municipal services please call the Township Emergency Call Center at 732-262-1234.

We flew Spirit to A.C. Tuesday to stay in Point Pleasant with Uncle Arnold.
Had tickets to come home Monday evening.

Arnold's Yacht Basin was inundated with people freaking out wanting their boats pulled out of the water.

Decided to get out of dodge & were lucky to get a Jet Blue flight from Newark home to Ft Laud. yesterday 3 pm.

Living in Florida thur a few hurricanes I learned the best thing you can do is get as far away from it that you can.

Best of luck to all in the storms coarse.

Tim, I'm sure you will get some great photos

Just hoping the basment doesn't flood, but my hope is a long shot. Raining pretty good right now, and it is just the beginnning of nastiness.

It's been very mild here so far. Just reported a 60 mph wind gust a 1/2 mile from me... Lots of rain of course.

Images are being uploaded now from yesterday...

I traveled from the entrance of Island Beach State Park located on the barrier island up to Avon-by-the-Sea and shot a little of everything along the way...
