No GPS spot-tracker linked up? Was neat to follow when BTB ran to Cancun.

That is an awesome feeling. New guys would crap on themselves when we would head out 20 miles for an escort at night in the gulf....the only thing you could see was your radar/plotter and the stars! Know your job, use and trust your gear, thats what its there for.
Have a great run guys! Sure wish I was there.

SHARKEY-IMAGES 08-04-2012 10:28 AM

Just landed a little while ago. They were off to a great start. Just outside Sandy Hook in the ocean they began hit hit larger swells then I think they were expecting . I know for sure I have a shot down the bow where I can see both props. 680 gallons of fuel is a lot of weight so I was shocked they got so much air time. Something at some point forced them to stop to make repairs. We waited about 10 min but then decided it was time to go back to the airport. Looks like they got back up and running as they appear to be much further south from where we left them. When I hear anything I will post it. I will be on the road for several hours before I get back to the office. Wish them the best !

BigSilverCat 08-04-2012 10:58 AM

Tyson just called from the sat-phone. He said they are doing well.

Tristan

Statement Marine 08-04-2012 11:00 AM

looks like cameara is trying to work. 20 hours of that is not fun..the newness wears off after a few hours.

Statement Marine 08-04-2012 11:02 AM

trust me its not fun trying to" hang it over the edge" at 50 mph in rough water.. and the wind blowing tends to make a mess...THE LAST THING THEY WANNA DO IS STOP FOR ANY REASON.

SHARKEY-IMAGES 08-04-2012 11:09 AM

Wave prediction was 1 to 2 ft for early part of the run and worst case 3ft toward the later part . The swells early on made it rough for them. 20 hours of that ? Yikes !

Statement Marine 08-04-2012 11:18 AM

prediction was wrong. Nick

Statement Marine 08-04-2012 11:19 AM

Lets see some of that fancy photograph work Tim..

Thanks Nick

+1. The last attempt we tracked them live. Is that not an option this year?

Statement Marine 08-04-2012 12:46 PM

as of 1:39 p.m 625 miles left 564 gallons of fuel remaining.. average speed 43. mph average fuel burn 1.4 mpg

Statement Marine 08-04-2012 12:48 PM

looks like we can track them on bottom of the video page

Ksatt 08-04-2012 12:51 PM

Good luck Guys.
