F292SR1 for sale-how low do I have to go?
#1
How low do I have to go before I could get some serious buyers? Seems like there are alot of picture collectors out there! I thought I priced my boat at a realistic $29900. I didn't want to make the price so low that people would assume there are problems with the boat - which there aren't any!

Nice boat! one thing I notive is no mention of a trl? does it have one? if not that hurts, Formula has a very loyal folowing so u may have to find the right person, most people that step into twins want 70mph, plus gas is a killer there are no signs of it letting up either, I almost bit it on a 272 last month, mint 25k, but one of the problems I came across was the loan values just arent there, which made it hard, because there was travel cost involved for me plus sales tax. If that boat has a trailer and as nice as it sounds, and the salt hasn't harmed it yet I'd say 30 is a good buy. But to someone like me, my season is over the last event that I hate being boatless for is are fun run which is tommorow, so from here on out I'm gonna getta great deal, or have a winter with no storage cost
I hope I helped/didnt insult you, but the way I love them colors, blue is just a differant color for them graphics most are the palm beach, that imron is my fav cause there the easist to maintain

I have been looking for over a year, I have seen alot of the same boats out there for a while, I am looking at a friends 311 right now, he has it at 27.500 here in the classifieds, it is a 75 MPH boat, with fresh hp500's and new interior, all Gaffrig gauges, hydraulic steering and alot of other nice updates,98 Loadmaster traler, it will need a little hull work in the future, that is one reason it is cheap, you will find almost all older Formulas have a stringer issue unless kept inside it's whole life, and it was lift kept!
it has been around 2 yrs now with no serious buyers, I am looking to buy it if my boat sells.
I have not seen a 311 or even a 292 Formula go over 25,000 on ebay in the last year, they are just not selling, it is not just Formula, no big twin engine boat is doing well right now, gas has alot to do with it.
I don't want to offend you but if you look at the market you would be lucky to get 20-24,000 for your boat right now, prob better off keeping it.
Point is

If you search here you will find a few guys that redid theirs, I talked to a few different surveyers lately and they said the same thing, also with Chris Craft, Scarab, Sea Rays.
Basically what he said is that these boats are 20+ years old now and they build them better now, one reason you don't hear about it is that most look at a boat and say "looks good to me! " and just buy it, have it surveyed and it may be a different story, all I know is if I spend 20+ thousand on a boat I want to know what the deal is with the hull, I would rather buy a boat for a little cheaper needing work then pay top dollar and find out a year later it needs hull work.

Thanks for the replies. No offense taken here!
It had a trailer, but, the trailer was a little old so I traded it towards my new wrap-around dock and lift! The dock guy wanted it to carry his long pilings and stuff.
This boat has been indoors kept on its trailer or indoors on a rack prior to January 07. Mostly garage kept. Now, of course, its The cover I had made for the boat is awesome. We've had a couple of days were we have gotten four inches of rain and not a drop got into the boat. I'm pretty sure there are no issues with this boat structural or otherwise. If there was, I would've had them fixed! FYI, I had this boat surveyed 8 or 9 years ago when I bought it. It was great and since then, I've babied this boat.
I'm also sure this is a 70-75MPH boat easy, especially with the 3-bladed Mirages (probably 75+ with the Mirages).
If I end up keeping this boat, I'll end up building a cover for my lift. I hate to see her outside in the elements!
Nada on the boat ranged from $28500-31500 (approx) without the trailer. It seems like I have the lowest priced 292 on the market, although I haven't checked in the last few weeks. It would be nice just to have a few offers, at least.

For anyone looking at a 292, I'm pretty sure Steve's boat here is probably one of the finest examples out there. I was literally hours away from buying it last year before my 311 seller caved into my price.

I for one would not pay within 10% of NADA if I were in the boat market right now.
For most of the country there are 2-3 months boating left and then it is Winter time. That being said- your boat is worth what it will be next Spring (year older and don't have to Winterize, shrink wrap, store, insure it and so on).
Honestly and don't take it personal at all man- I hope someone offers you $45K for it this afternoon- but if I were in the boat market I would offer you around $22K. It would be up to you to work me up from there, not me work you down from $30K.
Not saying anything bad about your boat at all- just used boat market is a tough one these days and deals a pleanty with even more deals coming in the near future.

Right now, I have a marine wholesaler who has offered me $23,000. I've been reluctant to let him have it yet because if he's willing to buy it from me wholesale for $23k, the surely I should be able to get more on the open market myself.
I understand that the season ends soon for alot of people, but I also know that some big boat shows are this fall like Annapolis Md and Ft Lauderdale Fl. That means, the serious buyers will buy at any time.
It's not that I want to get something bigger, it's that I need something different...like a Concept or other go-fast center console. I'm sure I'll miss the sweet harmony of twin Chevy Big Blocks and 800hp!
