Default Shooters Shootout Cancelled for 2008 at LOTO

Anounced today that the firefighters will not host or continue the shootout for 2008. This is a huge event for the lake, working to get the races at Dog Days, have the oso events there, party;'s, poker runs, and races there, It is a great place there with all the new developments and the new convention center for viewing and closing one side of bridge for spectators

There is still plenty of time to get this event set up somewhere else. I also thought it was going to move down near Horny Toad cove. I'm sure Dave Scott will do something to keep it going. He knows how much it means to the area.

Sad day for the lake. It was my favorite weekend down there. It takes a lot of time to put on a show this big. I'm not sure it could be done in 9-10 months. I wonder how willing the water patrol will be to put this event on now that its not one of their own running the show.

Shooter's is actually closed down for good. From what I understand, they only opened it for the shootout this year because they were obligated for the event.

I'd bet Horny Toad or some other venue will latch on to it. i can't see something this big just going away.

This is just too big of an event for LOTO to let go. Someone will step up. Also, my favorite weekend at the Lake.

I would not count yourself out this quickly as I assume it will continue in one shape or form somewhere. Time will tell with more information by next week.
