Your Mercury dealer sells the Mercury Phantom Black paint in a spray can. I am pretty sure you can get it at Boater's World and West Marine as well.

if you are down to bare metal, make sure you zink prime it first... merc sells both... primer is a dull green, Phantom black is a gloss black. I've used these two paints to paint my skeg over the years and the combo seems to hold up well (as long as you don't drag it thru the sand or rocks of course).

And you can get it at most marinas as well as Boaters World and West Marine... but they don't give the stuff away, it's quite a bit more per can than your average can of Rustoleum.

Thanks Brian and Foul

So I need the primer and Gloss black, and yes I am down to the metal since we had to weld. I also took a fine file to the front of the skeg, which had a few small dents from banging into the beam of the boat cradle Anyway as good as new just need to paint it, actually better than it was new

Thanks

WILL

nason blue label hold up the best anything in a spray can is a joke...you have to use a two component system with a herdener. doller does tons of outdrives everyone gets nason blue label synthetic enamel its cheap will stick to a rock or anything nearby when you sprayit, wont chip like harder better quality paint.

But can you get that paint at the local store? Auto parts store that sells paint or some place like that? Just wondering as I may have to do some drive painting this spring... haven't looked at my skeg in a while.
