Default Do you have vent holes in your notch?

I always meant to ask, if anyone else has 1.25 dia vent holes in the notch that vent overboard. I was thinking about using one for an a/c water pickup. Are they there for another reason?

I have a 47 SC that has a threw hull fitting in the "notch" just before the drives. It is hooked directly to one above the water line on the port side. Not sure why. When we anchor and the boat is moving up and down it sounds like its breathing

I was thinking that they were there for a gen and ac. They are straight 1.25 diameter thru-hull fittings that dump above the water line. One on each side.

I think they are for either venting or drawing in air to the step while running.

I'm confused too then. If they are above the water line, how would the work for an A/C pickup?

fountain indeeds vents the notch on many of there boats, on my 42 there are two 1 1/2 inch vents in the notch not quite sure what for have asked the question a few times and told to pull hot air out of the engine compartment and to venting the notch so as not to create a vacuum forward of the props. my two vents pull from the engine compartment and not the outside of the boat,
