Does anyone manufacture a bushing to adapt a 4.5" clamp-on muffler to a 4" exhaust system?
I know it's not the correct way to do it, but it would get me on the water for now.
thanks,
dean

I haven't seen an manufactured adapter, but if you need to get on the water ASAP, get a piece of 4" Trident Marine Exhaust hose from Defender Industries. The outside diameter of that hose is 4.5". You can clamp your muffler on over it, or get a piece of 4.5" ID hose to bridge the gap, depending on the configuration. That will work at least until you find or have an adapter made.
I know this because my boat had 4.5" transom holes. I made my own 4" pipes, and welded in some inline mufflers. I put the hose on over the exhaust tip on the inboard side, and it all press fit in there perfectly with some 5200 just so I wouldn't be tempted to take it apart... Mine have flanges that bolt to plates on the transom from the outside.
