petrolum oil vs, synthetic

From: west palm beach FL,
im buying a 700+ h.p. motor and the they told me to use only regular petrolum oil in it .and sythetic oil does not lubercate some of the engine parts as well .can any one tell me why .thank you

That probably goes back to teague telling people that hyd roller cams get flat spots in the wheels from sliding over the ramps on cam. There are a few instances,usually in drag or circle track motors with super low, low ring tension where moly or some of the other super slippery addittives might cause problems with ring seal but i can't see it on a marine engine,Smitty

In light of some reports I read today on Bob's site about 15W-50 Mobil-1 Goldcap shearing down rapidly and some engines dropping oil pressure as a result...my former strong conviction of using either Mobil-1 V-Twin or Redline 20W-50 is back in effect. If you use Goldcap it is still better than a conventional oil but change it as if it were a conventional oil.
Bob's guys wish Redcap was still available because the Goldcap is not looking all that great from a HTTP standpoint with UAO's that keep coming in.. It is probably a sign that the additive to basestock ratio is not nearly as good as Redcap was.
