what would 496/ho do without resonators

i think i have a bad resonator (sounds like exhaust leak, but can't find one). what would happen if i removed them.
i figure it would run leaner, but would it be dangerously lean?
do you have to re-calibrate ecm if you add headers?

NO, the resonators and restrictor plates do not affect reversion and stock 496 engines do not develop reversion. If your exhaust tips are below the bottom level of your risers bottoms you should not develop any problems with these items out, unless your boat sits in the water between uses a lot, especialy if its in salt water.
