Duramax reprogramming
#1
Just wanted to see if anyone has reporammed their Duramax diesel, and if so which programmer they used and what results they got.
I've been looking at the Hypertech and the Superchip programmers. I like the way you can re-calibrate the speedometer for bigger tires and the different levels of hp gain. Also hear reports of better fuel mileage.
Any help will be appreciated.

I had the Superchips and it was a pain in the ass. If you want to change anything, you have to shut the truck off and get the box out, plug it in, reflash the PROM, and then go again. I'd get service engine lights for overboost just going down the road empty. The only thing that it did as far as recalibration was remove the top speed limiter and I never even ran that out. Figure the money you're going to spend on that, and then add a couple hundred for the boost and pyrometer gauges that you will need and you're at the price of an Edge Juice/Attitude that has the gauges built in, is shift on the fly, has a display for corrected speed and has a safety built into it that will start pulling fuel out when your EGT's hit an upper limit. I've had mine on for almost 2 years now and haven't had any problems. IMHO it's the only way to go.

Go with the Edge/Juice programmer, a bit more money then the others but by far the best. Programable on the fly, with all the gauges built in. 125hp max on highest setting. I have had Predator and Hypertech progammers in the past. Edge is by far the best overal, in my opinion. It usually cost between $849-$899.

I have the Predator, and really like it, but the others are right, the Edge/Attitude is the way to go....... I just didn't want anything in the truck to tip off the dealer..

I have the Predator.. Friggin' great unit. Yes, it will reprogram for tire size, gears, etc.
I run it on the 65hp setting. This truck hauls azz. I toased a Nissan 350Z with ease the other day.
You can't run the 100hp setting if you have a stock exhaust with cat... Too much EGT.
The Predator has a 40hp setting for towing.
The Edge is said to be "better", but I didn't want to mount anything in the truck, just as Max said...
PMT chips is the place to get it.. Marvin is an OSO member and has everything in stock.
Second choice is DPS in Ca. John is a good guy.

some bigger power names for the dmax are tts extreme www.ttspowersystems.com, ppe performance www.pacificp.com, van akken www.kennedydiesel.com, quadzilla www.quadzillapower.com, just watch the egts and boost, turbo barks suck and cooking the motor is awfull. If you do an exhaust you will usually drop around 100-200 degrees in egt, and you can "swiss cheese" the stock airbox to get more in. For a plug and play I would look at the quadzilla lot of tunes in one box, tts has a total ecu change out that will callibrate it and all, goobs of power out of it as well.

hey Jeff i am looking also and the edge is the way i think i am going to go i like the way it can pull fuel away if it sees high egts or trans slip just a good safety thing to keep from doing any damage

I haven't seen it myself, but the word is that a DMax on the 100hp setting will suck the stock air filter out of its cage.....

havent heard that one Tim, I did the MAC airfilter and power tube as well. Got a lot of whistle and a quicker turbo spool, now just got to figure out if I want to skip the big boxes(modules) and go twins or not (truck still has warrenty).
