Default boats been in the water for 4 weeks

I know I know, It was my only option

now it is on the lift, the bottom has little things growing on it and the drives are covered.

What is the best product to get this off with out hurting crome pices, or rubber, or paint, or wax

Thanks

I'd start with a powerwasher to remove the "slime". When you get all of that off there will probably be a yellowish stain from the waterline down. There are a few different acids out there that will remove the stain and are safe for use on fiberglass and metals. I have used a product called "Zing" in the past. You will want to dillute it, and don't leave it on there very long or you CAN damage the finish on your fittings. Afterwards it's a good idea to rewax the hull to recondition it.

It's a SORRY-ass job. Have fun!

Pressure wash then use On/Off - the stuff with the skull and crossbones on the label. White bottle, orange label.

Just don't breathe it or touch the stuff. Wear gloves and a mop that you plan to throw out. Nasty job, but it must ALL come off.

The On/Off stuff is basically toilet bowl cleaner.

I would dilute it and wear GOOD rubber gloves, eye protection and a mask.

Stand upwind at all times.

Used ON/OFF many times..... I keep a brush with a long handle specifically just for that product. Power wash off what you can and mix ON/OFF 50/50 with water in a bucket. Wipe the hull down let sit just a minute or 2 and wipe it down again. (scrubbing doesn't help much) Re-apply if needed, but that's all I've ever needed. This stuff will take EVERYTHING off the hull so re-waxing is necessary.

You can also use a cheap bug/weed sprayer. It makes it a little easier to get into tough areas. Like everyone else said, don't let it get in your eyes and avoid your skin. It will itch at first, then burn like hell.

Doesn't the acid in these cleaners etch the gel coat and make it porous and susceptible to getting stained easier the next time????

Do they make a cleaner with out the acid that works to get out the yellow stains??

Thanks

Rob
