Question 502MPI to 500HP---OIL?

I have 502MPI that was upgraded to a 500HP package although it may not make a difference in regard to my question. I was wondering what the best brand of oil and weight might be, and frequency of changing it. I heard mixing some Lucas Oil product with it is good- is this true? I burn about a quart of oil per 10 hrs- is this in line? Thanks all!

Welcome to OSO !!

Do a search. Try "oil", "Mobile 1", or, "Hydrocruiser". You might just find an opinion or two on the subject

opinion or two???? By the time he reads all that he'll never come back!

Welcome, but good luck. This has been discussed alot and the concensus seemed to be follow your personal preference (maybe to keep the fight to a minimum)

He better have a couple of months of free time!

BTW: In my 502's I have always used Mobil 1 15/50 redcap that just came off the market.....jury is still out on the "improved" gold cap that replaced it.

Thanks I agree there is an abundance of info and opinions- after more research I am going to try Mobil 1 20w50 and mobil 1 filter. I'll go 25 hrs. I'm WOT often.
