Soinc,
I had a 35 cigarette with 750 cobras and standard XRs. I took the XRs off and installed two Imco SCs and picked up 5mph. That's it. Oh! and a new tie bar.

The Merc Is The Most Stable If Running Truly High X's, But The Imco Is The Fastest. They Just Make Alot Of Water Pressure When Approaching The Big Number

The bmax lower will not mate up anything other than a Bmax upper. The Imco lower has been faster than the sportmaster in most tests. The complete bmax drive is stronger, but slower. All depends on your HP, and driving habits.

Crescent Lower
The Bravo Shop’s crescent-shaped lower is used for the BMax but it can also be used to replace the standard bravo lower. In production testing the crescent lower produced an average increase of 3 mph over the competitor’s housings in both Vee and Catamaran hull applications. It is cast, impregnated, and machined in the same manner as all the other BMax housing components. The crescent lower is available in standard length and 2” shorter version. It can be purchased by itself or with internal components.

I can say with no doubt the bmax lower will only work with the bmax upper, unless you replace the vertical shaft. (They don’t mate up, not even close)
The bmax lower is quite fast, definitely faster than the XR sportmaster lowers in my tests. And you’re correct the Bmax lower just like all the lowers use the merc gears so they all have issues there. I have personally broken several different types of lowers, but the Bmax upper has never failed. It's just so huge it can take almost anything. The only down side is it doesn’t come in 1.5 gears. Now I just keep a spare lower for those times when the lower lets go.
Someone should design a lower like the #6 lower with 2 vertical shafts. You could run a bmax upper with it, and it would last even with 1000+HP.

thanks guys
I talked to Dean @ the bravo shop about a month ago he has two versions from what I understand one for the b-max and one for the bravo's we have XR's right now & stellings boxes.
I was fortunate enough to have a great guy ( owner of sommers marine) loan me a set of sport master -2 " lowers and a set of 1 " spacers !!! to try on our project to get a better Idea of where the prop shaft needs to be in relation to the bottom (then we will order a set of cases).
i'm torn right now between the imco and the bravo shop ones boat runs 97.2 gps with 743 hp 572 na 28.6 barometer & 75% humidity flat water half fuel---I'll let you guys know if We break the great barrier.. sorry for the long note.
thanks Shawn

THUNDERUSONE we have a 99 388 slingshot
guys the run with the sport masters was less than impressive ran them with a 1" spacer ( only 1 " up) ruffly same rpm same conditions 1 mph slower ??? what gives here only added 40 gallons of fuel for the run but barmeter was higher by .6 and humidity was almost the same --- so much for going faster... next going to take spacer out and give it another shot...
