I've always found the contacts in the cap to corrode quickly, car, boat.... I'd like to know if there is anything you can coat them with to stop the issue. Problem is the high arc will burn anything but the corrosion away....
I'm interested to learn more myself... besides going to a distributorless system....

All HEI systems, and especially Capacitive Discharge systems will draw moisture into the distributor. I believe it's the highly ionized air under the cap that does it.
It 's so bad on CD systems that MSD recommends removing the cap and drying it out after every time out on the water.
