I have a eliminator daytona. I see other cats that throw a huge rooster tail when ripping across the lake. When I trim out till it fills good than I don't throw much of a rooster tail but when I over trim it the tail gets up there. Can you over trim and hurt the drive or lose water to the pump?

deifeatelt can hurt the drive, and depending on where you pick water up from , yes yoy could loose water pressure.

Your daytona doesn't throw much tail because the drive is only semi surfaced. Trimming for a tail ia a waste of power and fuel. It also over works the u joints for no reason. Want a tail, slam a black hawk on it. Click my signature link to see what happened to my daytona.

the cats you are watching most likely have sixes or surface drives... your bravo boat won't produce that kind of tail.. a shorter lower/higher x can start to throw one, but not what you are talking about i don't think... round ear props like bravos work much better under water than on top of it unlike clever style props... also those boats have thru-hull water pickups so the drive doesn't matter, you can raise the bravo to high and have water pressure issues... (like none)

The rooster tail is more common with surface type drives under acceleration. When the boat is properly set up and properly trimmed there should not be a rooster tail at top speed. Just a hump of water and mist behind the boat.

When you see a boat running at top speed and shooting a rooster tail they are either trimmed too high and shooting a rooster tail for the show, or the boat is not set up properly.
