I'd like to hook up a water pressure guage with sender.

Where can I find the parts?

I have twin 1994 454 mags, where would the sender go?

Most importantly, how can I hook the gauge to an audible alarm??

I know of no water pressure gauges that have an audible alarm built in. My water pressure gauge is from Gaffrig. It is mechanical (as far as I know they all are) so there is no sender. It uses a small nylon tube connecting the gauge to a brass fitting at one of the drain plug locations in the side of the block.
Water pressure gauges are a good thing. Especially if you are running a blower.

Loke Grog said, most are mechanical. You can hook the nylon tubing into the water passage on the intake manifold.

My $0.02. Get a mechanical guage. Buy an adjustable Hobbs switch through Summit or Jegs, and wire your existing alarm to that.

I would like to install a water pressure Gauge but where do you install the tube with closed cooling. I want to know if the impeller is starting to give up. Alpha drive.

Hmmm, good question. Most closed cooling systems run thier raw water pressure much lower than the block pressure. I would put it as close to the water pump as possible and see what it reads. I'll bet your oil/power steering cooler has a 1/8" NPT plug to drain the water out. Try there.

The switches come in various pressure settings from factory.. what are the pressure ratings min and max for the 454 cooling system??

Try this:
Check what your idle psi is hot (thermostat open). Then just adjust hobbs switch a couple psi lower.

To sum it all up.....

I get a water pressure gauge i.e. gaffrig/lavorsi, mount gauge in dash and connect it to some location on engine i.e. block drain or thermostat housing.

I then hook the pressure switch inline with the gauge and connect to my alarm.

Not having climbed in my boat, but is there an available fitting on the thermostat housing already? Or must one be tapped in??

I really like the idea of getting an alarm BEFORE my engine overheats due to a lost impeller.

It only goes to 30psi, not sure if water pressue goes that high though, I'm thinking it might work.... then again I'm not familiar with these things to know better....

I just purchased a Gaffrig MECHANICAL water psi gauge from Triad Performance ( www.tpmarine.com ), $37 plus UPS. I did see an electrical one available somewhere....?
