Default Pick your upgrade for Twin 5.7s

I bought my 86 Daytona on Ebay a few years ago. It has twin 260 HP small blocks. I just installed a counter rotation Aplha 1 lower and switched to 23p Mirage props. WOP is 4500rpms at 61mph on gps. I am looking for advise about my next performance mod. The boat is all stock power with prop exhaust. My budget call for one a year because it's a twin and you always have to buy two of everything.
Pick whats next!
1. Thru hull exhaust w/manifolds.
2. External steering.
3. Drive showers.
4. KNN air filters.
5. MSD ignition modules.
6. Carb & intake.
7. 383 small blocks.
8. You tell me.
Please help.

Thanks I guess showers are cheap insurance. I was concentrating on the steering but I think I would enjoy the pipes.

Save your money for gas and enjoy what you have. Its takes alot of HP to gain MPH.

The only thing on that list that will make it go faster is #7.
A cam swap might help top end if your existing heads will flow the extra volume. If not, make it a cam and mild head work. Then change the exhaust.
BTW, your drives probably wont hold up to blower or big block power.

I want to get to 70mph. I think it can be done with the motors at 5200 at WOT. I would think that the stock 260HP motors could be hopped up enough to get it done. I know the boat can handle it.
If I settle for 60 should I change the props? It comes on plane OK with the 23s.

Thumbs up Re: Pick your upgrade for Twin 5.7s

If it were my boat, I`d upgrade the heads, cams, intake and carb.
While I had the manifolds off, I`d cut holes in transom and put the exhaust out the back...make it loud.

You probably won`t hit 70 with those parts, but mid-60`s should be possible.
