Default How do I do this?

I have stainless thru hull exhaust that has inserts to lessen noise. I would like to remove the inserts to improve noise (make louder is improving sound to me ) They look to be soldered, can I just cut these out or do I have to change the tips? thanks vic

I tried to cut out what your talking about and destroyed a set of tips. They are welded in there pretty good. If you are good enough to get them out, it will help your performance big time and it sounds alot better.

Oh, I don't know about just hacking away. Some (actually most) of the better tips have flapper systems built in to reduce back-splash and reversion, and THAT you would NOT want to remove. If you can give us more info. on just whose and what tips you have, we could probably advise more intelligently. --- Jer

I have corsa tips in mine. I was told by the seller that the backpressure they provide helps performance. If i can gain performance by removing them, and possibly make money selling them, i'd do it. Louder is better IMO also. I have silent choice so i wouldn't be a nighttime bother without them in there.

Do those corsa mufflers hurt performance?

Gave it a try today, took a flat screwdriver and hammer broke 3 small solder connections easily got muffler insert moving. But there is a problem the solder remains on the inside of the pipe stop the insert from coming out. So, tommorow will gring off small solder pieces and see what happens. Doesn't seem to affect flappers. These a 4" angled thru hulls about 8" out of transom lot of room to work. If I screw up trick has some for 70.00 each.
